This is one of the houses built at the top of one of the many local hills. This one is adjacent to the channel my contractor is working in.

Perhaps not the best photo for hdr but I was anxious to try the new CS5 hdr pro. The image is a 3 exposure merge.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with the CS5 improvements and the ability to tonemap within Photoshop. I'm sure someone will come up with a much better example of CS5 hdr results.

Looks nice, don't see any ghosting like can happen with Photomatix. Just downloaded the trial of PS CS5, looking forward to trying it too!

Navydoc, not trying to be a pill, but I want to ask a question to learn more about CS5.

The bushes just below the house (that run from left to right mid-picture) look as if they have the beginning of the haloing caused by over-sharpening (not to be confused with Photomatix-type of haloing).

Was that caused by the cs5 hdr feature?

Would love to see a sample of a scene where the dynamic range was beyond the camera if you can do one.

Cannedheat...I oversharpened the image. My mistake was applying high pass sharpening before I reduced the image size and applying too much.

I've totally reworked the image including better color correction. The original was too cold.

BTW, this was shot at 400mm and I did no cropping.

Good stuff! Agree, there is a lot of blue in the white curtains of the first.

So far, it looks like this rivals (actually surpasses) the new hdr photo studio for achieving the realistic look in hdr. Would really love to see a 3 of 5-image job where the dynamic range was well off the camera, clipped on both ends.

With an accurate / realistic hdr algorithm and all the new features, cs5 is lookin' good so far!

Comes out very natural looking, I have yet to play with this, but most of the pics I have seen with CS5 are better than CS4 that is for sure, but I'm still not convinced on it yet.

Funny. I missed them. Guess I did not look carefully the first time. Good catch!

Definitely - in the sky at the right. But it might be from rendering size (or color) down for posting as opposed to the hdr processing.

Edit: Correction: now I seem them in the entire sky. Navydoc would know if it is in the full res version. If so, let us know it was hdr/cs5 caused.

It's been awhile since I've posted here. Looks like this image has gotten a few comments. The arched banding in the sky is caused by compression for the web. I checked and evidently no longer have the original so I reran the 3 exposures through CS5 again. I have it uploaded to my smugmug site under the hdr section. Here's the link to the page it's on if you'd care to see the image at a much larger size.

(I also realize that this image probably didn't even need hdr tonemapping but I wanted to be sure I didn't lose the sky and to keep the shadows under more control)

It still looks good here, Gene...no rings at all on my screen.
