View Full Version : I'm thinking of using Photobucket Pro. Any suggestions?

I've been using Photobucket (free version) and am ready to build a catalog of some of my "fine" work for others to see, purchase, reject, etc.

Photobucket Pro seems inexpensive, but I think their rules prohibit selling through their site.

Any suggestions on an easy to way to display photographys? I don't need any kind of currency exchange or anything like that. I just need a classy gallery. I'll put contact information on the page for interested parties.

My suggestion would be to ditch photobucket.

If you are looking for cheap look into FlickR, same idea as photobucket but with out all the ads and crap that you see on photobucket.

But if you are willing to spend $25 a year on either, look into Smugmug.com whose cheapest site starts out in that same ball park or you can get higher level accounts such as their pro account ($150 a year) that allow you to sell prints directly from your website with out lifting a finger.

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward Smugmug anyway after reading other stuff people wrote. Your advice is good.

I wonder if I can join at the base rate (standard) and upgrade later without having to start over. Is the transition easy from standard to pro? I'm just not ready to go pro for a while until I know what I'm doing.

I do not think any thing will change on your site when/if you go from the standard account to the pro or middle account. Though you will have more options in customization when/if you do.
