I use a Lexar 512mb flashcard in my Canon D10. When downloading the images the camera puts the images in two different folders even though I took all of the photos on one outing. I have looked everywhere in my handbook on why this happens but can't find anything. Can anyone help on how to change this? Thanks :)

That's how the cards work ... they store 100 images in a folder, then move on to the next folder, etc. etc.
cheers,
jim

Thanks Jim, but the card saves images at random in the two folders, for example one folder may have 32 images in and the other 14. I always use it in RAW mode. I can understand your theory that when one is full it creates another one but the number saved are random and there doesn't seem any logic in it. Any ideas? :)

This is how every digital Canon camera I have ever had works.
The camera also keeps track of the pictures it has taken (last number). So if you turn it on with an empty card and are on picture IMG_1234 then it will only put 66 IMG_12xx images in one directory and the rest of the IMG_13xx in another. Also, it likely does not reuse numbers that have been deleted. So if you delete half the pictures you take then you will only get 50 images in each folder. Why is this a problem?

Sounds like you do not use a card reader to DL. You just plug in the mini-USB to the camera?
When using Zoombrowser and a card reader to DL you set the destination directory up and add any filename prefix you want. I have a 10D and have never DL any other way so I'm not quiet sure if the mini-USB cord DL method is actually your problem.
