ok this is my first post on this site so i hope im not doing anything wrong. I know there is a lighting section and that is what my question is about, but it is specific to this forum of glamour so i thought you guys would know the most about that use. i see the replies to this type of question all the time so let me try to answer them up front. equipment- Canon t1i, kit lens (18 x 55 mm)for now and 50mm 1.8, I have a make shift studio in a building i have access to, the room is roughly 9' wide by 14' deep and a just over 7' tall. There are no windows for light to come in so it will all be artificial lighting. I am leaning torward constant on florecent cool lighting, the reasons... seems to be fairly inexpensive, seems basic enough (what you see is what you get), basic set up no need for sync equipment like strobes, not hot like other constent on lighting. Now this is what im leaning torward but would like to hear opinions from people that shoot pictures on a regular basis. it also looks like soft boxes work the best. looking for advice so please chime in, and if i did anything wrong sorry it wasnt intetional! Thanks for the advice ahead of time.

You might be better off just getting an AB400 + beauty dish which will run you $300. You get a modeling light as well. Just run it with a sync cord and your costs are kept low.

Just so you know, fluorescent lighting does fairly warm/hot, too. Not as much as other lamps, but it still gives off heat.

LED lights are what you want if you need continuous lighting that's low temp. Of course, LED is expensive.
