Sorry if this has been asked before. I am looking to get a polarizer for my two lenses?

what do you recommend. I have been told to go for the Cokin P series and compatible filters. Can you get a polarizer with the P system? How does it rotate independently of the rest of the filters? (sorry if that is a dumb question). Does anyone use the X-Pro series - I am looking to get the bigma (Sigma 50-500mm) with 86mm thread at some point - it pushes the P series to its limits... What do you recommend?

Or else does any one recommend a screw-in polarizer?

Also any recommendations on must have filters? I am mainly looking to use them for landscape photography

Many thanks for any advice.

I use B&W CPL. Get a high quality multicoated one, otherwise your putting cheap glass/plastic in front of a good lens.

Screw-in. I personally use Hoya SMC, but as Scott says B+W is also good, as is Tiffen.

Screw-in filters make sense for UV or for circular polarizers.

Cokin (rectangular) filters make sense for graduated neutral density and other special effects.

For practicality, I find any filters to be too expensive once your lens fronts are larger than 77mm. Nearly all of my screw-in filters are 72 or 77, and all of my Cokins are P size.
