Wokring on a Friend's Logo...

Matt aka vmdc, also from PoTN was asking about logo designing services so i thought i'd give him a couple of drafts...

i've talked with him and ok'd about asking you guys see which direction you like best...

after getting some feedbacks from Matt in the font selections page, here's what i have so far...

i know the blades thing and the camera front silhouette is overdone... so let me get your feedbacks on these...

First Group...

maybe the front element is tad much... takes away from the "c"

I think the 3rd one of the 4th group is the strongest... honestly, I don't think anyone will "get" the camera body reference in the first two.

thank you very much... i have to admit, i had most fun in the first 2 groups... but there's something missing in the "flow" and the 2 elements of the logo does not blend well, (Lf Heavy in First Group, "Hammertime" in 2nd group...)

the 3rd is nice... but a bit plain imo... and again, too tight.. .i'll try putting more negative space on it...

4th group is fun as well... but feels too corporate...

anywhoo, i really appreciate your comments... wow... once you step away from it and look back after couple of hours, you kinda see new perspective...


i'll post some modifications shortly...

I personally like the third and fourth groups, clean, easy to read. I also like to think of other applications of the logo. The Third would make a great stamp. The Fourth does have a corporate look but is is very clean and professional.

Avoid trying to incorporate a camera into the logo. Photographers will know what an SLR camera looks like from the side but many potential clients will not.

I prefer the first of the "custom font" ones (with a normal "c"), but with "imagery" under the mdc - without color. Why have the "d" in color? Why should attention be drawn to that letter? There's probably not need for emphasizing that letter. So just leave it all the same coloring.

And sometimes not even then. I stared at it for a couple of minutes trying to figure out what that fat hammer was doing on the side of the logo...

P.S. I like the first two in group three and The third and fifth in the last group.

Matt is beginning to like the camera silhouette and so i've revised a bit and tried to make it a bit more obvious... (including the red ring... he has red ring fever atm... lol)

btww, im not a huge fan of cursive fonts, I find the blocky arial/times/verdona (easy to read) type of fonts more attractive :-)

i hear ya... the camera icon can be a bit too cliche-ish... and it looks like a spaceship... maybe if an older body... hmm....

i like the enclosed one in either one of the fonts work... the last batch, i have to say, is my favorite... reminiscent of the red ring and flows nicely... good balance...
