How to batch process a series of raw files?
Whenever a series of images are chosen in Photoshops file browser, they have to be dealt with individually - there appears to be no batch option within the file browser.
Is it really necessary to create a NEW action whenever you want to batch process a series of raw files?

Bent,
I've a couple of articles on actions on my site:
http://www.rogercavanagh.com/actions/10_batch_action.htm
http://www.rogercavanagh.com/actions/04_fileauto.htm
You might also like to have a look at PS Side Click and PS SCript Builder from www.kssinc.com. These utilities now have commands for using ACR that provide even more flexibility.
As a footnote to the Adobe tutorial that drisley pointed out: Jeff Schewe recommends using a 3/4 white (RGB values around 192) to set WB rather than the 3/4 gray (123, 123, 124) that Russell Brown used in the video.

I hope someone has the time to answer my question as I am lost. All the actions for converting RAW files are for a Mac not a PC. Is there a difference? I have both a G3 and Pro 90IS and would like to know if I could use your actions Mr. Cavanagh. The colour space for these cameras is not Adobe 1998 so do I use theirs or the Adobe colour space.
Thanks in advance

Fredy,
I don't use Macs, so I don't know whether PC action files would work OK on a Mac. I would guess not since, Fred Miranda supplies Mac and PC versions of his actions when you buy one.
Do any Mac users know, if a PC created action can be converted?
Javascript should run the same on both platforms.
If you have custom profiles for your cameras, the procedure would be to assign these profiles in Photoshop, then convert to Adobe RGB. If the cameras use sRGB, then you can just work in this space. There is no need to convert to Adobe RGB.

Thanks for the quick answer. Can I use your action with my two cameras despite the fact you made it for a different canon? I have been taking photos in JPEG but would like to try RAW. I am just an amateur but would like to improve.
Thanks again. Fredy Ross

Fredy,
Which actions do you mean?

forgive me but I just a little old lady but I meant the action for the D30 you have on your site for processing raw files. Can I use that for both my canon pro 90 and G3 or do I require an different action.
I guess I am looking for a short cut now that I have ACR.
thanks in advance

Seems that the Adobe presentation is excellent material to get you on track. Only saw part of it due to lack of time.
You have to create different batches for each camera though (also shown in the presentation).

Fredy,
Yes, if you mean ACR Menus, it should work OK. There's nothing that should cause any problems with the Pro 90/G3, although whether the actual settings are optimal for those cameras, I cannot say.
The LinearSharpenMenu action will not work properly. It will not give good colour with cameras other than the D30.
