I have a really powerful sound system in my room and I'm constantly playing music with the bass maxed out and I have always worried that the vibrations might damage my camera or lenses. So far what I've done as a precaution is to elevate them on styrofoam.

But recently I've been thinking about how the cameras sensor cleaner works by vibrating the dust off of the sensor. It gave me the idea that maybe the vibrations from my sub aren't so harmful. I've tried to search for answers on the internet but I cant get anything remotely close to an answer.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

The only thing to worry about with speakers around electric equipment is the electromagnetic field, and if your sub is built right, it's shielded so most of that doesn't leak, and as such that's not a concern at all. Keep your equipment however you like really, don't worry about the sub.

Would that perchance effect my tv? Since I have two sub woofers stacked on top of each other as a tv stand.

Only if it's a CRT! LCDs/plasmas/etc won't be affected by magnetic fields. CRTs go wonky though. :p

Lol..if you are worrying about damage done to your camera, maybe you should think about the damage done to your ears first...

You should be more worried about tinnitus. Once you damage your hearing you can't fix it, it's stuffed. My hearing was stuffed by lots of loud music at clubs. I have a ringing in my ears that never goes away, it sounds minor but it drives some people to suicide. Not me, fortunately. But at times it is VERY frustrating. I will never hear silence again, the ringing in my ears keeps me awake sometimes, and I can't go anywhere loud (bar, club, movie, convert) without hearing protection.

Turn the music down. Your ears will thank you for it.

Go and watch how containers get handled and you will get some idea of the sort of abuse your gear has put up with before it even arrived at the store you bought it from.

A few vibrations from a sub woofer will have no effect what so ever.

:shock::shock::shock:

Is that stable for the TV? Wouldn't all the vibration from the TWO subwoofers move the TV ?

Actually, treble will damage your hearing. Bass on the other hand has a higher chance of damaging your sight through the straining of the optic nerves.
