Moonrise over the gums and spinifex

Hi all,

Talk about being in the right place at the right time, took this yesterday afternoon on the gravel road on the way back to Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia:

Love full moon pics. Good light in the scene. The same full moon and clear skies over here in the east meant -5deg in Canberra last night. I was in the bongo van with a heater, but only one headlight. So the moonlight helped a tad. Headlight lamp must've shook itself to bits on the monaro goattrack to Bombala & Pambula, 'cause it was working the previous night.

[ btw there was snow along the Bombala roadside - pretty unusual in my experience!]

Got back to Perth at 2140 yesterday and had to have the windscreen wipers on full on the drive home... So, no moonlight there!

I had to judge the moment for the photo attached as it had already risen a fair way and I had to wait until there was a hill at just the right spot. Just as well there were plenty around!

Great picture! I'd try cropping about 1/3, or maybe even half of the sky away from the top. Just a friendly suggestion!...
