I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I was wondering if anyone else on here knows of cool spots to get some shots of cars. I am trying to photograph my own vehicle, so it would have to be a place where I can drive myself. I would like to get some day time shots in, but I can't seem to find an area that is mostly deserted during the day. I am familiar with the surrounding areas, like Cary and Apex, and I am also a student at NC State, so I am familiar with campus too. So, I welcome any suggestions, both for day and night shots.
Just a thought, anywhere I can go to get a shot with the Raleigh skyline in the background?
Thanks everyone!

I'm going to wake this thread back up in the hope that someone is able to share some information.
Frank, thank you so much for your helpful threads, I'm learning more every day. It's just starting to get warmer out now, so I am trying to get out and give this photography thing a try.

I can't seem to find an area that is mostly deserted during the day. You may be seeing the forest, instead of the individual trees. For one shot, like a 3/4 front, you don't need to include everything in sight. Pick out just part of that background & use that.

Also try some more of the industrial parts of town on the weekends. Its pretty common for them to be deserted on the weekends.

In Raleigh:
Parking garages downtown are free on weekends. Generally the are empty unless a special event is going on.
Research Triangle Park is generally empty.
Really depends on what you are going for.

um random road outside of town? I used to live in Charlotte and just went out of town maybe 5 miles to an empty country road and shot in the middle of it haha. Otherwise, parking garage or just drive around and let your eyes guide you to something good.

I might try downtown, there are a few parking garages around campus, but it would be cool to get some buildings or something in the background. I may also go cruise the RTP area, I'm not too familiar with it, but who knows what I may find.

haha I might try the back roads of Apex, nothing but farms out there. I think it would be good to try a more secluded environment rather than an industrial/commercial area to add some diversity to my photos.
