View Full Version : Metallic printing for 'passive' sale websites (e.g. Smugmug, Redbubble, etc.)

I'm planning to start making landscape prints available for sale on a 'passive' sale website and am trying to work out which one would be most suitable - Smugmug, RedBubble or another site. It'd have to be a fully self-sufficient site - that is, one which handles taking orders, printing, mounting/framing, distribution and payment, as I am doing this as an adjunct to my full-time work and don't have time to run a business on the side.

Basically, I'm looking for a site which allows me to specify what sizes, papers (metallic, lustre, etc.) and matting are available for each print - in other words, one which allows me to have some control over the final product. For example, if I only want a certain photo to be available in metallic (since that would be the best look for the photo, and to print it in matte would not do it justice), that I would be able to specify that. The ability to customise my homepage is also a plus. Landscapes will be the main focus, so an emphasis on large prints, with multiple options for framing, matting, canvas and frameless mounting would be nice.

Any suggestions?

i'm the same as you, im not a web designer or pretend to be one. if you pretend to be one, it just looks bad everytime...so i bit the bullet and said "hey why not eh"

the greatest thing is you can customize the back end to work for you...i set up my site in about 40 minutes. it blows my old one away that i was paying double for and spending hours a week trying to update properly.

the greatest thing is, with some instruction to your clients about how to use the system (like anything) you can set it up to sell licenses practically by automation.
simplicity is best
