Wow I love these. For us a tech abled inclined fold, can you share on how you created these?

What other equipment? Tripods? Time to create? etc.

I have the Canon 10-22 and would love to try my hand at this.

C'mon we're all techies here, at least most of us. QTVR it's reasonably widely used. But your own technique behind the panos would be of great interest for a lot of us. You did an excellent job, BTW.

Hello again

essentially it is 6 images taken in portrait mode around the pupil of the lens.

and 1 shot above

This (nodal point) is essential and just 1mm out will cause parallax.

software is used to warp the circular fisheye images and merge them into a single equirectangular image

then turned into a 6 cubed qtvr or java image.

Simple - I can get the process down to 20 minutes - but I am a pro:p

expect it to take at least 3 hours to do the first one!!!

the software i use is ptgui (windows) or ptmac (mac)

Very good job. I suppose that another important factor is to have all the V shots with the pupil perfectly aligned. Also, what is the overlap ? With a 8mm circular FE you'll have 180 degrees view. In theory, only two would suffice (being round, it doens't really matter is V or H, I think.) So methink you overlap a lot, am I missing something ? Another question, i know ptgui (never tried, but I've read about that) does it export automatically in QTVR ?

no PTmac does - ptgui just makes a flat image

panocube converts this to a qtvr

2 image panos are bad quality (like ipix) yuck!!

the circular image is cropped on the sensor - so you get about 135 degrees.

60 degrees allows plenty overlap -- useful for masking moving objects, removing vignetting, and giving a higher resolution.

you can get away with 4 for a fullscreen but I like 6.

my tripod head cost £550!! - but is machined to be precise!
