Very Impressive, excellent composition, dead on sharp and love the background effect. All in all, a fantastic shot. well done.

thanks guys....I got some more good shots of him using his lens evasion tactics (he's a very colourful little guy for these parts.... normally the leafhoppers I see are all green)........ Bruce you never really know if you gotim :) until you get home and see it on your monitor

but i've been trying out a new method for macro shots............. I put it on AV mode and set aperture to f22 and pop up the built in flash on the 350d ........ set up in custom functions (no 3) flash sync speed in av mode 1/200 (fixed)

I centre the subject on the middle af point and give a burst of the flash with the av lock button * (all the time half pressing the shutter, so that it meters the subject correctly for the flash) this has the added bonus of temporarily stunning the poor little critter :) ....compose the shot and move the camera back/forward to focus and click...

basically so i can do handheld shots

I even got a cool shot of a spider at 2am using this method :)
