Has anyone used this and if so what do you think.

I bought one right after getting my D60 as my screen was constantly smeared up by nose oil. A definite good investment.
The only problem that I found was that it fit rather loose which made chances of knocking it off high. I ended up putting a small strip of black plastic tape on the top where the two edges mesh, that solved the problem and is hardly noticeable.

I only use one eye - my left. As soon as I became aware of this item, I obtained one. It makes a great difference to me; Now I can see properly through the viewfinder without having to almost break my nose against the back of my D60! :)

If you want one, you had better act quick. Canon have stopped making them and I could not find one in the US. I eventually found one when I went home to England. There are also some on ebay but at very inflated prices!

I find this unlikely as it was not on the EOS system chart I printed out showing the D60, but was on the system chart showing the 10D.

It is probably a case like the Angle Finder C, (Speculation here) they run them in batches and every once in awhile the are short on them and hard to find (end speculation). I got told in Sept that the Angle Finder C was possibly out of production and then in Early December it started showing up and I got one in Early January. The last time I looked they were again easy to get.

That's ironic, because my EP-EX15 (which I bought for my D60) does not fit on the 10D. :( The recessed area around the 10D viewfinder is sculpted differently, and the extended does not sit properly.

Interesting. I plan to move from my D60 to a 10D, but if my EP-EX15 won't fit then I may reconsider.

I bought the EP-EX15 yesterday (in Alberta, Canada $40 CND) at a local photo store. I did not notice any problems using the extender on a 10D body.
Before the purchase I played with the 10D they had on display, mounted the EP-EX15 extender on the 10D camera an took a few pictures (I brought my own flash card with me to the store). It seemed to work fine. May be I should go there again and take a better look.

The 0.5 magnification ratio mentioned in the brochure means that the image you see through the viewfinder is smaller. The benefit is that you can easily see both the entire image and the green info display without moving your head up and down - a definite improvement assuming that you wear glasses.

The store I went to was
http://www.mcbaincamera.com/ in Edmonton,
their toll free number is: 1-800-661-6980

Regards,

Thomas

P.S. There are no provincial taxes in Alberta.

I would much much rather keep the 10D without the EP-EX15 than go back to my D60. I'll throw in the EP-EX15 with my D60 when I sell it to sweeten the deal a bit. ;)

The sculpting around the recessed area of the viewfinder is different enough on the 10D that you cannot push the EP-EX15 all the way down. It is definitely missing about 1 to 2 mm on mine. I'll take some macro photos of my D60 and 10D tonight to illustrate the difference. I think I can sand down the bottom corners of the EP-EX15 to make it fit though... hmmm!

It does not fit the 10D. The area around the viewfinder is curved more than the D60. I was able to shave some of the plastic off with an Exacto knife on the left side ( looking at the back of the camera ) and made it fit. You only need to shave a little off to make it fit. The funny thing is that in the 10D manual in the accessories section it lists the EP-EX 15, just a slight screw up I guess.

Canon has discoutinued the EP-EX15 because it does not fit the 10D. Although, the "Canon 10D System Accessories" sheet still lists the eyepiece by the same product number. A redesigned version promised. All this per B&H rep.

B&H is backordered on the Battery Grip as the D10s are blowing out the door... w/ Accessories. That means new (not 30/60) buyers are getting with the D!

Good to know....I plan on picking one up soon. I don't like having my nose pressed up against the LCD screen.

If you find that the .5 magnification is hard to live with, remove the magnifying lens inside and voila! trust me. the only hard thing is removing the screws. you get full view, but without the .5 magnification

I hated it, everything looks so small in the viewfinder after I put that thing on, can't seem to focus properly....................
