Okay, this is my first posted picture. I just got my 20D and some new flash gear and had to try it out. I bounced my 420EX (using the 580EX as the master) out of a 40 inch gold and silver unbrella. The pitcher and eggs were on a white foam board. The lens was the Tameron 28-75 2.8 Di set manually to f/5.6 with 1/13 second at ISO of 400. The focal length was 62mm. In post processing I increased saturation slightly and sharpened about 90%. I welcome any and all constructive criticism.

Thanks

I like the egg resting in the handle. Don't know why, I just do :p

I'm curious... What is the shot about? What are you trying to go for? Or is it just an interesting shot?

I just thought the color of the eggs was interesting and would make a good contrast to the vase.

Thanks

I like your composition and your subject matter...it makes me think of my favorite Aunt. :)

I think maybe your focus is a little iffy. Maybe if you were using a tripod you could use a smaller aperture...get some more depth. I also like the egg on the handle.

This still life would also look nice in B&W. I think you could try a neutral colored background though. The white is a little overpoweriing. Maybe a burlap cloth like a potato sack or something...that would be fun texture! :D I would love to see that!

I would also choose a different background colour to contrast the pitcher a little. I like the idea though- good job

Might try it with the whole pitcher in the picture. Say that 3 times fast!!

Thanks to all of you who have offered your suggestions. I'll give them a try.

I like it. I agree with the previous posts about a different background color. Maybe you can photoshop it and try a few variations before trying to shoot it again?

I'm not sure why, but to me it feels like it might look better if you cropped off the left side a bit. Since the top of the vase is already cropped, it might be nice cropping the left part, just up to where the handle is attached.

I can see that...that would be a nice crop.

Great idea for a shoot, knowing me I would have had a cracked egg all over the place.

Thanks again. I have to do some painting in the house this week so I will try to get some more done next week.
