Another one for the 442 junkies!
This is Robert's '70 Olds Cutlass 442, "Baby". A very sweet car.
It has a stock 350 w/4-bbl.

i feel little stupid.. I did not realize that 442's could be had with anything other than the bigblock.. I thought a 350ci meant Cutlass....

There were a few special order factory detuned cars that wore the 442 badging so people could "Pose" without being afraid of the car. ;)
This one is not a 442. All 442's had a REAR sway bar as well. This one does not, but it DOES have the W-30 hood.
A big mistake made by a LOT of folks that didn't know any better was to under estimate the Olds 350. The Olds "Ramrod" 350 put out 330 HP, and of course could be modded from there.
The guys that wanted to go fast opted for the hard top (and the bigger engine), as the convertible actually weighed more. The frame had to be heavily reinforced to make up for the lack of rigidity that was afforded by the hardtop models.

Didn't the W-31's have a small block? Nice car for a clone 442.
Cheers,

It had the 350 CI engine. When it came to an Oldsmobile V8, even the small displacement engines were physically the same size as the 455's. We used to be able to trick people easy enough because if they didn't know Olds engines, they couldn't tell the difference between a 330, 350, 400, 425, or a 455. There was no pronounced difference in size like there was between a small block Chevy, and a Big block Chevy. ;)

I was at the auto show in NYC in April 1965 when this car was being introduced. I didn't realize how badly I still wanted one until you posted this pix! lol - thanks for the image (and memory tho the early ones were quite a bit more "boxey")
