A95 and blurry pictures using telephoto lens

hi, i recently got a canon A95 and got the opteka 3x telephoto lens to go with it. this is my first time using a telephoto lens and really have not had any training in photography. everytime i take a picture using the lens it comes out very blurry. this is just using the normal settings on the A95. is there something i am doing wrong? something i could fix to make my pictures not blurry? or do i just need a tripod.....

Probablly shutter speed is to slow, you must use a tripod.
Try next: go outside, use max. F number, change ISO to 200 or 400.
Your shutter speed must be approx.: if you have 300mm then 1/300sec. minimum.
