Hey, I just ordered this lense and was just wondering what people thought of it...

I'm not a pro by any means and I just got my camera a month ago, so I was kinda hoping that this would be an adequate everyday lense for me to learn with. I like the fact that it has macro and the IS feature but are these really that great? This is at the top of my price range so if you do suggest something different, try to keep that in mind... I won't be able to afford an "L" series...

Thanks! :)

it doesn't "have macro" per se. That's just the minimum focus distance.

It was my 1st lens too... I still have it, though the Tamron 28-75 spends much of the time on the 10D these days. The EF 28-135 IS is a very good walk-about lens... I should use it for a few shots this week-end.

I have it and like it very much. Great reach and very sharp. IS is nice too.

I'm not usually the type to say "Do a search", but there was a thread just a day or two ago with about 3 pages of comments on the 28-135. Good choice in my book.

I just got hold of a second hand EF 28-135mm IS to replace the EF 28-90mm I was using on my D60. I paid £270 for it and so far I'm really happy! I do wonder if I should have researched a bit more and got something wider but I couldn't afford the money I spent let alone any more!
