View Full Version : critique my site

I've been using a zenfolio site for the past 6 months; and given that it is the face I am presenting to prospective clients, I thought it might be wise to seek out some critique.

Now obviously because it's a zen site, there isn't too much I can do with design. I also don't anticipate anyone actually going through my photos. I'm mostly curious about what you think of the number of photos I am making available in my galleries, whether or not I should be including work back as far as my first wedding (it's there !), and whether or not the intro page slideshow is a good idea.

Anything particularly rankling about the site as presented ?

thanks a lot.

You need to pick one background color/theme and stick with it.

its okay -- i like the simplicity..

the background is cool, but it doesn't seem to be noticeable

Really hate the fact that the galleries are shown on a black background and then when clicking on an album, they open up with a white background.
It's really harsh on the eyes - bad for me - and does nothing to enhance your images - bad for you

Much appreciated, guys. I strive for simplicity but am having difficulties reconciling the 'light' or pure nature of weddings (white ?) with the night-time nature of my event work. But you're right, Phil: there's absolutely no sense to it switching at the the point of clicking on an album.

Would putting Event work all on black and Wedding work all on white improve things ? I definitely want the intro page black--so perhaps I just need to settle on that all the way through.

Yep, that's what I would do.
It helps to make your images stand out a lot more than white.

Done ! Zenfolio might be painfully limiting in its customization features, but at least making changes is quick.
