Greetings. I am new to the DSLR world, just picking up a Nikon D5000 last week. I am going to be at Watkins Glen next month for the Sahlen's Six Hours next month. I currently have a stock 55-200mm lens with a 18-55 on the way.

Understanding that I am new to all this, my expectations are realistic. I am looking for some information that will give me a fighting chance to get some good pics. I have been going to this weekends events for years and know the track well and have some ideas on where to find the best shots but looking for anything more regarding setup and if my equipment is up to the task.

Thanks

If they are using the boot, the heel and toe of the boot will be ok for pics. You can also take pictures at the top of the esses (uphill). There are photographer holes you can sort of shoot through from general public access, but you need a LONG lens to do that, and yours won't be quite long enough. However, you can stand on top of your car there and get some decent shots I think over the fence.
