I have had my website up and running for over a year now, apart from viewing visitors, there has been no other interest shown (people inquiring about buying images) have a look, and tell me where I should go next.

The presentation could use few tweaks imo. A full size centered frame of the large image when you click a thumbnail rather than a new tab. Your images are grand but the site doesn't quite do them justice. A way to buy online too, with paypal.
Mostly though, I think you need to promote your site. With enough visitors you'll get people buying. You want to appear in google when people search for "lake district photos" or some such relevant search. Flickr and such sites might help you promote too. Or perhaps you could promote locally.

It looks dated and it takes a long time to load.
The navigation is all over the place. The links on your home page are centered, yet on the other pages, they're to the right. Pick one and stick with it.
When I click on one of the thumbnails, I get another browser window. I would like to see a back/next instead.
One of the reasons people aren't calling/finding you is because your site is poorly SEO'd. Google it and/or read the first couple pages: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=472885

A better presentation is a must. It takes the doubt out of "is this the kind of care thats going into my print?!" It's also not immediately apparent that the site even sells prints.
I think you need the right kind of traffic too. Like, who wants a print of Derbyshire and Cornwall? Would these people search for it online?
Some of these photographs are very nice! Maybe you could even sell them elsewhere as landscape/nature prints other than tying it to the location.
I'm sure you could find a 3rd party to print + ship your art too. The only one I've ever seen is DeviantArt.com but there must be others! This way you'll have more exposure and a professional presentation too.

I agree with others, it's an old web design. If you click on any photo, it opens in a new browser tab which is very annoying. You then have to close the tab to go back to the gallery. Ditch your website and look into zenfolio instead. Your print and mount sizes seem rather odd unless they are standard sizes in the U.K. Plus they are rather small print sizes.

Your images are obviously of good quality. Your site isn't too bad, but like what has been mentioned its not very easy to order prints from you, you need to organise a better system where someone can just purchase directly from the site without having to contacting you. You also need to generate plenty of traffic.
My site has a fair bit of traffic purely because I hand out a couple of cards at events, people need to know what you are doing.

Greetings benbo,
+1 on everything said above. One more thing to consider is to eliminate COPY and SAVE AS capability from your site. Especially the ones that open with just the image. If I wanted to, I was able to right-click on an image after clicking the thumbnail and copy it or save it. I know your resolution is only 800x600 but it's still accessible. Anyone can copy or save your images and reproduce, at least, 5x7 prints.
Hope this helps. :)
Peace,
Yanis :D
