Ok, my need for a camera to be safe in/around salt water just got bigger.

I'll be going Deep Sea fishing in one week. Couple of hours at the beach, 8 hours on a ship in the atlantic, then a couple of more hours on the beach. Extreme heat/humidity and salt/sand...

Then at the end of August I have a mother/daughter trip planned for Discovery Cove and Sea World. Sea world will mean a ton of splashing and Discovery Cove will mean a ton of snorkling in the reefs and the wish to be able to take pictures underwater of the "ship wrecks" and my daughter swimming with the fishies etc...

Currently I have...

A Canon 3CD GL2 Digital Video Camera
I found a case for it..but the case was almost $3,500 ... way too much so that's probably not going with me.

An Olympus Camedia C-730
Found a case for it for $500 - again that seems like way too much to pay for my "old camera".

A Canon PowerShot S2 IS
I was able to find a case for the S1 IS but not the S2 *groan*

What to do?

Is there a low cost digi that's WORTH purchasing that comes ready to go underwater (15ft is all I really need). Are they all cheesy? The pics I've seen from the underwater disposables don't really thrill me and I'd rather digital....

Is there a case I don't know about? Do the bags work? Is there a bag suitable for the S2 IS?

Should I give up on the idea?

Any suggestions appreciated VERY MUCH. I can't imagine not having a water/sand proof camera on either of these trips (they're both "once in a lifetime events for us).

Thanks!

Check out http://www.waterproofcameras.com/ for some examples. It's a little pricey. The disposable cameras might look better to you in the end. I have never heard of a 'bag' that will protect your camera from anything more than the occasional splash.

I have a canon s70 and a waterproof housing. Cant get more waterproof than this and it is not that expensive.

No colour correction, but it does need to be defused for close ups.
