Hey there, I'm posting these images for a friend - he is a general camera user, not photographer. And I myself use digital.

We're wondering if there's any way to tell if these white fiber/scratch marks on the images below were on the film or the lens? Is there any easy way to tell?

The film was taken to RITE AID to have them printed, AND scanned to digital and put on CD as JPGs. Maybe the marks are from the scanner?

They wouldn't show up like that if they were on the lens. They're on the film.

As for the line - that was probably dust in the film reel's lightrap that scratched the film as it was pulled out (or reeled back in).

The long straight line is a scratch on the negative; may have been caused in the camera or during processing. Since it's intermittent, I'm going to guess that it was in camera and the film wasn't wound evenly (thus giving the small gap in the streak).

All the other marks look like dust that was on the negatives when they were scanned. If the dust got on the film while it was wet from processing, it'll be in the exact same places on the prints as well, and you won't be able to get rid of it. If it got on after the film had dried, it should brush or blow off for a re-scan.
