Have been reading around the ability to select a manual focus point in the viewfinder on the 20D. Is this possible on the 350D and if so how? I can't seem to find it in my manual that said I'm not certain what I'm looking for.

I believe it works same as 300D, you select the button top right behind the shutter and scroll using the wheel to the point you want - shown on both the LCD and in the viewfinder.

The button with the + Zoom on? Doesn't seem to do anything for me...
EDIT: It does work - I'd set to manual.......doh...

I just got my 350D last Thursday. It took me a bit of looking around before I figured out that the manual selection of the focus points is only possible in one of the "creative" modes, but it's not possible in the "basic" modes.

Full auto mode... meaning the basic zone which includes several different fully automatic modes like the green square, portrait mode, landscape mode, sports mode, etc....
Anything in the creative mode which is "P", Av, Tv, M, etc... allows for manual focus point selection.

Never ever touched the symbol modes in 15 years of EOS ownership...

I was just looking at your signature Lastline, There is no such thing as a Canon 70-200mm f/4 L IS. There is a F/4 or a 2.8 L IS. Just thought I'd let you know.
I have never used the symbols (portrait, landscapes etc) on my camera either.

Doesn't stop him wanting one, though! ;)
