I have just purchased a SD 500 and I am worried after hearing how fragile the LCD seems to be. I have read about a product La protector 104 that is supposed to fit the camera. Does anyone know how well this fits? The company apperantly makes several other sizes that are larger. Any help would be greatly apprreciated.

Basically, you are just covering the LCD surface with some plastic sheet that gets worn. I use clear packing tape, applied and then trimmed with an X-Acto hobby knife. Now, after about four months of intensive use, I think it is due for a new piece of tape.

I use the same for my Mark II but the powershot 500 has a tendency for the LCD to crack not just scratch and the product I mentioned is a thicker piece of plastic to keep it from cracking. I just want to make sure it fits right.

I have the product you are talking about . I had one on my old digicam and on my current one. in one word it's great, i would bet it could take a pretty serious hit and be fine. Fit it always pefect.
I will NEVER have a digicam without one of them being on it... UNLESS it's a swivel type screen and not really needed. Get one you won't regret it.
EDIT: just to clarify, you are referring to the protectors found on this page right?
