Which one is better?

Ok so I have re made my first HDR after I figured out a few more thing... My old one was made in Photomatix by just messing around with the sliders until I landed on something that I thought looked "cool". So here is the old one and then the new one. Which one do you guys think looks better??

Any tips on improving my technique? What can I change in this picture to make it look better?

I'm liking the second because I can now see the brownish tops of the rushes or whatever they are in the front two clumps.
A better question for me, than how to improve it, is how do you see the second try when compared with the thing you saw that made you snap the pic in the first place?

Well in reality, the whole scene was actually darker. But I like how it looks more in the second picture! Well actually by improvements I was mainly looking for comments on weather it looked believable enough, and 'correct" to everyone else's eyes. Like when you see this shot, could you imagine it existing and looking like this in real life?
I have been looking at this shot for so long now that I have forgotten what the actual scene looks like, and also weather this looks believable enough, and is pleasing to the eye!
