If you go all the way to the image quality comparisons you should easily notice that their new D50's image quality isn't as good as the Drebel - a 2 year old camera. The D50 had clarity/definition lower than the Drebel and moire problems that Pentax also has.

interesting review. Nice camera. I did note, however, that in the comparison shots, the D50 was giving the same exposures at ISO 200 that the two Canons were giving at ISO 100. Which means that ISO 1600 on the Nikon is really about ISO 800. So the ISO 1600 noise levels on that camera should correspond with ISO 800 noise levels on the 300D and 350D/XT.

I think that the reduction in image detail on the Nikon is due to some software-based noise reduction. I don't think that the CCD in the two consumer Nikons is very noise-free.
