Hi !!

got there in the end !!!

just thought i'd chuck one in !!!

This is my little girl Courtney aged 8.

Taken under very subdued lighting to acheive a 1 sec shutter speed, which gives the pic a slight oldie worldie feel to them, aperture 5.6, the lowest possible to acheive the 1 sec shutter, taken with the 300d lens kit, plus tripod and remote control shutter release, messed about with a little in cs2 but mainly to sepia the pic!!!

sepia- not everyones cup of tea, but i like it !!!!

hope you do too!!!!

regards!!!
Declan!!!

please let me know which you prefer sepia or colour, if any ?

Colour. Maybe as an artistic look could you have the sepia with the green trees in the back ground?

Wow that's a tough one. My layman's eye likes them both. However, the B&W one almost makes me think she's a ghost... whereas the color one gives me a totally different feeling. So I guess it depends on what you are going for. The ghost comment isn't an insult btw... I just feel more like I'm looking at a spirit in the forest pondering her next move rather than a living girl on the B&W. On the color one I see a little girl looking at something/someone rather than pondering...

The sepia, looks like a little spirit of the forest :)

I don't often like sepia but it is better than the color this time.

God made your daughter beautiful and colorful.
Keep her that way.

I would have to vote for the color. Nothing wrong with the sepia, it's just that I like the color one better.

I prefer the color, however I do like what you have created with the green trees in the back ground. I really like these pictures...it makes me think of a movie or something. I just can't place it. I think it is just the mood that the photo gives me. I like the color though.

Color one for sure!! They are both nice but the green in the back looks mistic or something very nice!!!

Here, color is a plus. The girl is sitting against a tree that seems very similar in texture to her clothing, and very similar to the shading of her face. She seems to disapear against the tree in the B&W version. The color snaps her out and away from that background.

agree, not enough contrast in sepia mode. Color is better. Or more post processing to make it pop

The mood of the picture should be sepia but it looks a little flat. Maybe more contrast. Both good, I chose the colour for now.

great photo!

I prefare the colour photo.

As she is wearing clothes that match the colour of the wood, i think the colour pic makes her skin stand ot more, and contrast more.

I like the thrid one the best for the very reason George gives for NOT likeing the sepia. It makes here blend in with the tree giving her that "spirit of the forest" feel. The green additions really make the shot!

Very nice photo. I like the color one more, I think. It took a few minutes of looking and comparing, but the color one does more for me. I think it would look very nice in black and white with more contrast. But if the goal was to have the soft lighting (which I know it was cause you said so) then I would leave it as color.

Exactly what I was thinking. I love that look, but you have a beautiful little girl who looks good in either format.
