hi when i put on my d60 and look in the finder its dead, when i half press the shutterbutton the red square blinks but nothing happens and its still no signs in the buttom of the viewfinder. but if i point it at a very bright light source it jumps back to action and then it wotks like normal??? its very strange i tried all my lenses and its the same... anyone heard of this before??? im worried i mean i can still use the camera but its only two month old so that really sucks.

pls give me some advice if u have any??????

I am having the same problem with my Canon D60, and don't know why. At first I thought the problem was due to the battery weaken "2025". I changed the battery and is still the same. It doesn't happens all the time but one in a while the problem will comes back and it does happened some times that the bottom of the viewfinder is dead and I can still shot but the picture just came out to be blacked (just like forgotten to remove the lens cover). I tried all means now, which I think the final solution is to send it to canon to detect the bug.

How did you clean the mount? I've had the problem also off and on. My autofocus doesn't work at times- the lens just searches but doesn't lock on focus. I tried cleaning the contacts with an eraser but it never has an immediate effect. Maybe a day later or so it comes back to normal. Can't figure it out. Do you have a different cleaning routine?

Just wondering if this problem only comes with the battery grip attached? I did notice when the problem arises, by applying hand pressure on the battery grip, the display in the viewfinders seemed to be affected. I did tried cleaning the contact points and the problem went away (which I thought I found the problem) but after a few weeks the problem returns....

Anyway I am sending it back to Canon and will update you guys.......sigh....
