I am very proud to say that I exceeded comcasts internet limit, as you may know comcast put a cap on the internet you are allowed to use, they say you have 250gb and I hit a grand number of 400gb..... so I should be expecting a call from comcast soon....

Lol... Roadrunner here. We put up so much of a stink that they finally dropped it. I monitored my usage for a month to see what I was at... 380GB and I'm a pretty heavy user (mostly HULU, NetFlix and moving files to work via VPN). 400GB is a lot :)

That sucks! I was just starting to look into doing an online backup with mozy. I'm not sure I have over 250GB to backup though.

That is a lot... I rack up about 60-80GB a month by myself, mostly from streaming.

You might check and see if Fios is available where you are. A good friend of mine has there 20mb up and down plan and he was saying that he averages between 600Gb and 1Tb a month and not a peep out of verizon.

I consider myself a pretty heavy bandwidth user, but I don't come anywhere close to 40GB/month. I couldn't imagine what I would have to be doing to use that much bandwidth, unless I was running a server or increasing my dvd collection or someone stealing my bandwidth to do the same thing.

Make sure you have WPA set, since WEP can be cracked within a matter of minutes. Either you're torrenting or somebody is torrenting on your wireless (if you have wireless).

I do have wireless, as well as WPA.

I switched to Uverse because I refuse to support Comcast at all. I went over limit a few times and they called me and told me to stop so instead I canceled service. I mean if I really cared I could stay under 250GB but why should I have to?

Date Download Upload Total
2010-06 4.70 GB 0.40 GB 5.11 GB
2010-05 518.93 GB 165.36 GB 684.30 GB
2010-04 328.20 GB 157.84 GB 486.04 GB

I didn't know there's a limit. I'm downloading/uploading a lot of stuff every month. But in my area, Comcast was bought by TimeWarner Cable....may be this is why.
20mbps really adds up in 1 hour

They usually don't call, when you abuse it too much they flag you and shut you off, then you call them, and they'll transfer you to the fraud department.

That seems a little extreme; to accuse your customers of committing fraud. Should be a simple case of exceeding bandwidth = charge more.

Get a business class account. Fast DL and UL speeds, quicker turn around for support, no cap.
