Wow. I was not quite prepared for the weight of the 200 L! It is substantially heavier than the old 60-300 zoom I had with a Pentax K-1000! It will definitely take some practice, especially with birds in flight.
Here are a couple of samples from my first day with it. The snowy egret head & shoulders is a "100% crop" - i.e., not resized - section of the frame. The laughing gull is about 40% of the frame. Was really happy it was mostly cloudy when I inadvertanly followed a bird across the very bright thin clouds in front of the sun!
This is also my first use of the aperture priority mode.
