Not sure if you will remember I had a baby son in January, but here are some of my latest pics of him - he's just turned 6 months old. Pictures with smiles are few and far between at the moment - he's just cut his first tooth!
They're in different styles, please let me know what you think
Thanks,

Cute images! Like the 2nd the best. Too bad that the last one is OOF but I can empathize; they don't stay still for very long to get a sharp shot!!

Great pics, you've captured some wonderful expressions. Let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier taking their picture, not for awhile at least. I have a 2 y/o and getting her to sit still long enough to focus and check the exposure is a challenge. Take LOTS...

Thanks to everyone for your comments - they're very much appreciated. I'm quite into baby pictures and am still learning new stuff so you're input is very valuable to me. I'm glad you like them!

I know exactly what you mean! I have a girl around the same age too (well, 2 in Nov) and she just doesn't keep still at all! They strike the cutest poses and as soon as you grab the camera they're gone

 Totally know what you mean about them staying still. I think that from that set the second is also my favourite but I just had to put the last one in because he has such a 'boyish' look in that one
I kinda like the "I'm gonna gum on that lens as soon as it gets close enough" look in the first one too

wonerful photos. I just recently had my first son. He is now 3 weeks old. I love taking shots of him as he makes silly faces and all that goes with having a new son or daughter especially the first. Good luck with all that you do. Hope you dont take too many photos of your son like I feel like I plan on doing.

Thank you,
My advice - take lots!! When you're with them daily you don't see much change but if you have at least one good picture each month you'll really notice the changes.
Congratulations on your son - hope to see lots of pics in the coming months and years!

I am a sucker for close ups, because they really show feeling, so I like #2 the best.

please please share some tips - what did you use for number 2? lens and post-processing? it came out looking awesome - i am still learning but would i be right i guessing you used the widest aperture and almost overexposed it to get the kinda flare? or what that all just post-processing?

Hi Saqib
For this shot I used a Canon 50mm 1.8 with the camera set on Av mode (1.8 aperture)
I took the shot as a close-up so it came out pretty much as you see it, although I did adjust the curves (photoshop) to brighten it just slightly.
Following that I desaturated the image to about -85%, and adjusted the hue a little to the left to give it an antique look. Finally I adjusted the colour balance, sliding the bottom slider a little towards 'yellow' and the top one a little towards 'red' to give it more of a warm sepia look.
Specific values are difficult to quote as it depends on the colour balance of the original image to get the same effect, but I hope that by using the above method and a little trial and error, you get the desired effects on your shots.
I look forward to seeing some of your images in the near future
