I think it already has flown, and that is the exuvia (empty case) that it crawled out of.

oh...whoops... i thought it was a baby bug.... esp since it seemed like those were delicate new wings in back

That is a great way to get a bug to hold still for ya. Just wait until he has left a shell behind. Nice capture.
