It's a fake plate. :) You don't need a plate for the front over here.

I don't know, that's why I was asking. I've never seen people try to paint them so I figured maybe it's not a good idea, just a guess on my part, I don't know for sure.

As far as the McLaren F1, I believe the body was made in an aluminum honey-comb with carbon composites on the inside, so the outside of the car where the paint is is actually aluminum.

poeple dont paint carbon fibre hoods b/c they like to show off their nice, shiney, expensive carbon fibre hoods. As far as "only widebody nsx in the states"... not true, i've seen others do it.

Most people don't paint carbon fiber to keep the look.... they get aftermarket CF parts because they're much lighter. I personally don't like the look either, but beautiful car either way :D

this is a sweeet! japanese supercar! my friend bought one used for 20k. too bad its discontinued but they will be reintroducing a newer version in less than 2 years. sweet!

2004 Vette has a carbon fiber hood that is painted blue to match the car.

It is not that you can't or shouldn't paint the hood, it is that people want everyone to know they have a carbon fibre hood or, in the case of the ricers, to think they do.

If you've ever been up close on a carbon fiber hood they have a texture. Not a whole lot as most of them have a good clear, but it is their. The prep work to make carbon fiber match a paintjob would be very expensive. I think they pulled of the car very nicely. Oh and nice picture, just wish you would have done a portrait shot with the car's background not including the street.

Yes carbon fiber has a texture, but it can be covered with a thick filler primer. Matching the car wouldn't be too hard especially if it's an OEM color and not too faded.
