Hi. I've been using Elements 2.0 but I'm struggling to accomplish the things I want to do. I am considering an upgrade, but I know it's awfully expensive. Does anyone know where the best deal on the latest or almost-latest version of Photoshop? My husband is a graduate student at ASU, so it is possible he would qualify for a student discount.
Thanks for your help!

Try the school store they should carry it or could order it. From what I understsand the price for student is fixed by Adobe. You can also get it from Dell and Amazon. Adorama offer it but the process is tideous. You can also check the Adobe site I think they have a list of vendors. There is also a few site that sell colege textbook and also sell softwares as well I think is call Campus.com. I hope this will help. You probably can find discounts online for PSCS or PS 8 since PSCS2 or PS 9 have been released.

There are a number of websites that tailor for studen pricing. Usually, you need to show proof of attendance.

This above is just one example.

A university bookstore should have PS CS2 in the Educational version, or at least could bring it in for you. I almost went that way myself but I was afraid of potential upgrade problems later. Right at the moment Adobe allows full upgrades from their Educational version so if you had PS CS you could purchase the CS 2 upgrade and it's all good. But all Adobe has to do is to change their minds and leave all the Educational versions "un-upgradeable" and then I would have to go back to Square One.
The cheapest, safest purchase is to buy directly from Adobe using the semi upgrade route from Elements (assuming yours is legal) to CS 2. The last time I looked it was $299 US and a very good buy. If you don't own Elements legally it may well be cheaper to buy it and then upgrade! Elements 2.0 came with all kinds of products and I have three legit copies myself (two from Canon DSLRs and one from an Epson scanner) so look around.

Is the Adobe offer of a $300 upgrade from Elements 2.0 to CS still valid?
