Slow and steady did seem to be the way they fixed the AF system on the 1D3...................To bad that was well after it was released.

Nikon AF is better than canons! We have more AF points! (but less are cross type).
The d3s beats the 1Div at high ISO (except if you put some NR on the 1Div).
The D700s AF is better than the 5Dii (in the centre column)
Nikon flash system is better! (but pocketwizard are slow to bring stuff out for us)
Nikon metering is better (except when there is "user error")
Canon's reds are messed up (by adobe... LR settings are adjustable, but don't tell anyone)
Nikon's have better ergonomics (for some)
3D AF Matrix! (I want to be like Neo)
DxO mark!!! (umm...)
14-24 and 200-400 (no filters and bloody expensive, but we have them...)

That's about it. The last one is a nice point. That and the have a better 24-70 (until the mystery unicorn lens the 24-70 2.8L IS comes out).

That's because the photos of the Nikons are all taken with Canons. ;)

I don't have a preference on the look. I think the little red bit on the noink cams is spiffy, but Canon have the red rings on the lenses. :D

One thing I never liked with the Canon prosumer line is the grips. They are ugly if you ask me. Even my friends 7D with grip looks ugly. The Nikon D300/D700 with grip looks way better imo. :)

I think they look pretty much the same gripped. But that's my opinion. I do like the way the D700 grip tapers in and looks a bit more "natural" though. They also don't look they they're sitting on top of the grip so much.

I do like my 7D's vertical battery grip better than on the 40D, though. That one was butt ugly. The 7D's grip looks a bit more integrated, but it's still not as nice as that of the D300 and D700.

Seriously though Nikon isn't THAT bad. I touched one once and only needed rifampicin, dapsone, and clofazimine taken over a 12 month period to get over it.

Now I've gotten over it, I've got a natural immunity and can touch a Noink cam as much as I like. :D

I'd go Nikon though, if I could use my 70-200 2.8L IS II on the bodies. Also, they won't have the 3D and the 24-70 2.8L IS (both of which will come out... any day now... yep...).

I had a Nikon D100 last year, and while I enjoyed it (and it brought memories of my old n90s film days), I missed my Canon like crazy. For a moment I wanted to get the D300, though I knew when it comes to AutoFocus, my Canons had been outdoing the Nikons that I could afford by way too much.

I decided to sell the Nikon, and return to Canon. Feel back at home. I missed it. (Would I take a D3 as a gift? Sure ! and I'd sell it for a Canon).

Considering that I just ordered a Nikon I probably should be rather careful about what I say about them. At the present (not having received the ordered camera) I am of the opinion that it should be a fine $59.00 camera....
