Very nice, but don't you mean sunrise? Unless those are pictures from the sound, that sun is rising in the east.

Well, it could be the way the beach is angled, right?
Down in Panama City (the city in the country of Panama) the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, and it's all a matter of geography. The way the land points, etc. So it's possible.

Surely you don't believe that, do you Mike?

Unless I woke up after sleeping for 1000 years and the Earth changed its axis and/or rotation, I have to believe that the sun setting in the east and rising in the west is absolutely impossible...regardless of your location on the planet!! I will be researching this myth though because I am mystified to see such a posting!! In the mean time, please read this!!

I completely said it wrong.
What I meant to write was that in Panama City, Panama the sun rises over the Pacific Ocean and sets over the Atlantic Ocean.
This is a quote I got from some website: "Panama is the only country in the world where you can see the sun rise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic."
Now, whether that's true (it being the only place in the world) is beyond my knowledge.
But, yes, the world always turns toward the east and that won't ever change (at least not in our lifetime).
But back to the Original Post: He states he's watching a sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. I'd love to see some GPS coordinates to check that out. I suppose it's possible if the land is curved in a funky pattern. Afterall, if you're on Cape Cod you see the sun rise and set on the Atlantic Ocean, but the setting sun is technically on the Cape Cod Sound, right?
Now, back on the topic of geography and science: Three little-known facts: 1. The moon is leaving us. It is steadily drifting farther and farther away from us and will someday be gone. 2. The speed of the earth's rotation, though it's always to the east, is slowing down from drag (sun and moon). In other words, the current 24-hours will someday be 25, then 26, etc. 3. The sun has about 4.5 billion years of steady hydrogen supply left, but in one billion years the sun will begin its expansion and swell up 11%, which will be enough to raise the earth's temperature enough so that all water will vaporize, giving us a thicker atmosphere and no liquid water on the ground. It will be in the clouds, and precipitation will evaporate before it can pool on the ground. We'll be in big trouble. But the good news is that if you multiply the history of the human species by 750, that's how long it will be before this happens. We're talking a billion years, give or take a couple.
Or something like that. I just had to throw out some cool facts after looking like a complete idiot for stating that the sun can rise in the west. ;)

ok guys... we were fishing in Hatteras over by the Famous Hatteras lighthouse. we drove out on the beach all the way to the point then it starts to wrap around back to land. if you look closely you can see the coast in the horizon under the sun just to the right... does that help yal any?

Ha ha... Yep. I have been living on Nantucket (island off Cape Cod) for almost 4 years and assure you that is correct:)
Same for NC Outer Banks depending on where you are located. Been there many times as that is my home state. I work on Nantucket.
Great images OP. Thanks for sharing.
