I'm not sure what you mean by positive film effect for colors, Rob. Do you mean the "my colors" mode, or the photo effect function?

I don't think you can use shutter priorty with positive film on the S2. You have to be in My Colors mode to do the positive film effect. In my colors mode you can't change shutter or aperture.

nwyman, here is a little write up on the Positive Film effect in My Colors Mode.

Use this option to make red, green or blue colors more intense like the Vivid Red, Vivid Green or Vivid Blue effects. It can produce intense natural-appearing colors like those obtained with positive film.

I think the My Colors mode works like P mode, it selects the speed and aperture for you.
Another option while in Tv mode, is to change your photo effect to Vivid or go into custom and bump the saturation up to +1.

Nancy,

Those manuals are printed so small it's easy to miss something. I actually use the online components page whenever I can, it's just easier to read. Here is the link. http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/pss2is/components-e.html

snowrdr is right you could use the photo effect setting, select Vivid and that will Emphasizes the contrast and color saturation to record in bold color. This way you could shoot in Vivid in any shooting mode.

I have not used 'positive film' or Vivid yet but I will try it
