A bit nervous about posting this but I have finally got my website up .I am just starting out and there a lot of work gone into it but I think it still can be improved but you know how you get when you look at something too much. Need a fresh view on it!

www.magmaphoto.co.uk (http://www.magmaphoto.co.uk).

I would appreciate any comments and constructive criticism

Very nice and clean looking website! Some of the wedding photos seem to have a little bit too much compression. Otherwise very nice!

Magmac - I think the solution is as simple as when you save the image, choose a higher image quality for the jpeg (most programs offer values from 1-12). Otherwise as everyone else has said, it's a nice clean, and original looking site!

I like it, very clean and tidy. Tend to agree a about the compression of the wedding photos. What did you make the site with?

Margaret,

nice website!

I also think that some of the wedding pictures look a tad soft.
Might be compression or the desired effect you wanted to achieve.
However, the images look too soft to me. I like it if at least the eyes are sharp.

Best regards,
Andy

Thanks for all the replies it really helps to have other peoples views. My husband actually built the site and this was his first attempt and Im sorry but I have no idea how he did it I think his methods were very original !
I have just started out and have been assisting a photographer at weddings and yes the main problem has been soft images. I have kind of concluded that this is mostly to the kit lens on my canon 20d and partly down to person behind the lens as well ! The lens had a slight knock a while ago and doesnt seem to produce anything near good enough quality .So I am going to keep assisting until it gets better with experience and also get the tamron 28-75 F2.8 and use it as much as possible ...... have also just got the canon 50mm F1.8 which seems a lens to have for the price. But I guess that at the end of the day its down to lots of practice and experience so I will replace wedding pics as soon as I get some nice sharp ones. Thanks again for everyones input

... What did you make the site with?
Looking at the page source -> Dreamweaver MX was used for a tabular layout, with the gallery powered by what appears to be JavaScript function to preload/swap the images.

Margaret, great looking site which is clear to use, well laid out and fast loading - compliments to your husband for the implementation, and yourself for some great looking photos.

Just re-iterating what has been said.

Great site, easy to navigate & so on. The Art shots are awesome (living where you do in Scotland, you're always going to have a million & one things to shoot your camera at, the west coast of Scotland is truly beautiful), the portrait shots vary from good to excellent, the wedding shots are what lets the gallery down :(

But the site itself is great & shows lots of potential :)
