Ixus II Sensor Problem!!

Recently, my Ixus II sensor is not working.

No image from LCD during shooting mode.
(LCD display the camera setting with black background)
It still can take picture but all you can get is a black image.

Playback mode is working fine.
I can view the picture from the SD card.

Is there anything I can do before sending it to Canon?

Is the display activated while shooting?
there's a display button somewhere on the back. try pressing it whiel in shooting mode and look if the display show again...

The LCD display is activated.
I press the DISP button for few times but still no image from LCD.

If I understand correctly, you take a picture and when going in playback mode, the display is active again and the picture displays correctly?

So that would mean that the CCD works and the display works.

Try the following (works sometimes)
remove the batterie from the cam, and put it back 5 minutes later.
I don't know if it has some sort of powersaver batterie too, if yes, remove that too.
That will make some sort of reset of the cam.
If it still doesn't work, there's probably some real problem.
But the IXUS II is about 3 years old now, I believe. Servicing at Canon of that cam will cost more than the cam is worth now...
