false. panamera sales are now a significant portion of sales/profit for porsche.

i like the front end design. i wish porsche would translate it into their other models.

Been seeing them around lately. I drove one before they were released to the public. They are pretty fast for their size

Awesome, now you can get your groceries faster. A Porsche station wagon.

This just in.... my wife likes it. She says it's "Cute" and she'd drive it. She thinks that this will be marketed towards women. Who knows.

false. panamera sales are now a significant portion of sales/profit for porsche.

i like the front end design. i wish porsche would translate it into their other models.

The numbers from January of this year to February have dropped 23%. From selling 534 to 409. Not meeting the predictions Porsche made.

Panamera inventories are also beginning to rise and sales numbers are not meeting expectations, which may mean we will start to see some significant discounts just a few months after the Panamera's introduction which cannot bode well for resale value of these cars in 2-3 year's time.

What's worse is that in November 2009 sales were down only 9% vs. the prior year if you took out Panamera sales, but now they would be down 26% meaning that Porsches traditional bread and butter cars, the 911, the Boxster, even the Cayenne are faltering in sales numbers.

Now Porsche likes to spin this that sales are up this year vs. last year, and on overall unit sales they are. But that's not exactly comparing apples to apples when last year there was no Panamera. That's sort of like Fiat acquiring Chrysler and stating that sales are up because now they are counting all Fiat and all Chrysler cars together. Let's dig a little deeper then shall we? If we take out the Panamera sales, total sales in February 2010 would be 1,122, compared to last year's 1,518 that's a decline of 396 cars in the previous product lines combined or a 26% decline year over year!

I don't think it looks that bad. Some people just need a 4-door & if the choice is to sell them one of yours instead of sending them to a competitor, then having one in the stable is a plus, no?

I agree to a point. But if the 4 door options you create tend to trample on your reputation for quality design then you might be doing more harm to your brand than market share you gain. The last thing Porsche wants is for people to point, giggle or smirk when one of their products drives by.

Well it's not pretty on the outside, but when you are inside you feel the luxury, great materials, and how well it's built. I was really skeptical about this car, as I usually am about any non-911 Porsche, but last week I tried it and it really is nice. Probably not the best at anything, but it definitely is a nice car.

people hated this when it came out. i guess some still do but if you want to be a porsche purist you need to mention all of their "faults"

i do like the 911 (Turbo, GT3, GT2, etc) but this is sexier IMO

This car is horrible! I wasn’t a fan of the SUV either but i guess even Porsche has to dig in and start expanding their line. Still HORRIBLE!!!

the Rapide is a sexy beast but a loaded Panamera is still nearly $65k less than a base Rapide

EDIT

besides, THIS is the winner of the pissing contest

By the way, the "base" rapide is fully loaded by porche standards. And as a bonus, you get a car that isn't completely hideous! Also, I've driven it, and it's amazing. I haven't driven the porche, but I'm sure it's nice too.

4 door = money

Business is getting tough these days. I have to say, I prefer it vs their SUV's. The Panamera is mahooosive BUT feels like a Porsche should when driven hard so I was pleased with that.

Some reason, it looks better parked, windows up and in silver. So pretty much a photo or in a show room.

This will be the biggest flop for Porsche since the 944. lol. The Panamera is one of the ugliest cars in the world right now. I really wanted to love it. On top of that a soccer mom in Jersey is driving it. Probably one of those reality tv show bitches. lol.

I can guarantee the more you see them and look at them the better they look... I didn't like the look of it at first and now I don't think they look bad... I work at a dealer so I see them EVERYDAY and I still think the back end looks dumb but they had to stick with THE look.

When I first saw the photos of this, I wasn't impressed. But now that I've seen several driving around town, I gotta say I like it. When I see one, my head does a double take, it's just such a unique looking vehicle. I think it's kinda like the older SAAB's in that way, so unique that people tend to like it or hate it.

And about the comments about a woman driving it... I've only seen women driving them in my town. Perhaps this will be a ladies car, much like the Lexus SC.

If we're going to pick on design (& purpose), I'd pick the Cayman out as a stinker. The 911 body modifications on it are terrible (my opinion, I know). But my bigger gripe is the Caymans sole purpose is to offer a lower price point "911" to generate more sales. They're not branding it as a 911, but they're using the 911 image to bring in the buyers. At least the Panamera fills a void in the Porsche lineup as it's first luxury 4 door sedan.
