I just picked up the 50mm about a week ago (this trip was one of the reasons I got it), and I am so glad I bought it. Shots like these would have been nearly impossible with a slower lens.

The aquarium is fantastic! If you're ever in Northern California, you must stop there. All the exhibits are amazing and it would be especially great with kids.

Jellyfish: f/1.4, 1/640"
All ISO1600

Haha, guess I lied about the f/1.4 being necessary. In retrospect, I should have dropped the ISO and opened the aperture a bit for the first two shots. Many of my shots, however, were wide open.

The jellyfish exhibit in particular was very dark. I think all of those shots were 1.4 to 2.8, and those slow jellyfish still got blurred in a few.
