Does anyone have any tips to offer for using the 420ex with the 300d body?
I know that the 300d does not have FEC and I'm not sure I feel comfortable with
installing the hack. I seem to get underexposed and blurry shots when using the flash. Using it on a flash bracket. I plan to get the 20d soon...will my 420 work better on this body?

You aren't giving us much information to work with.

Before you expect the 20D to work better with your 420EX, you first might want to figure out what is going on with the 300D and 420EX. It's possible that either piece is at fault, or it could easily be user error. If it is user error, then a new 20D will probably work about the same with the 420EX.

I never had any issues with my 420EX and 300D before the Hack?
This flash works great, worked great on my Elan 7 before the drebel too.

Now that I have the hack even better.

Like Bob said, the 20D will work pretty much the same as the 300D, so work our your problem here first. Shoot in manual mode at your lenses maximum aperture (eg F2.8), and see if it's still underexposed. If it's not change to whatever aperture you like and try again. If they're both underexposed install the hack and use FEC, I did it on my old 300D, it works well.
