I'm wanting to get a crisp photo of my Boston puppy. She's on the go all the time and especially likes to jump off the stairs and play with my Lab. I keep trying to get a picture of her jumping off the stairs...sorta sailing in the air. I've already taken many picts, but they are ALL blurry.

I'd like picture like the one I added to be clear and crisp. (I hope I added it right)

I just bought a 50D this morning. It's my 1st SLR camera and I got it mostly to take pictures of my dogs (and kids when I have them) I have a 28-135mm lens. I've taken great photos of her, while she's still or sleeping, but I really want to get some good action shots.

Any advice? Please keep in mind that I'm very new at this :)

If you're shooting indoors you don't have much light and need to increase your shutter speed. You can do this by increasing the ISO value. Or, of course, you can use flash; that will help as well. Or simply shoot outdoors, in good light. To capture fast-moving dogs, you'll need a shutter speed of at least 1/500. Anything less, and you're likely to get blur.

I have a new puppy myself and it is tough to get a great photo! I have been shooting in AI servo and using either the single shot or high cont. shooting. That seems to help some. Raise the ISO for sure. Good luck.
Just keep trying:)

Thanks. She's just so dang quick. I've been playing with the camera a bit more. It's easier to get decent picts outside in the sun. I've opened the shades inside to let the light in and it helps a little bit.

When I do cont. shooting they are all blurry. I'm just waiting to get the settings right and catch her in the right moment.
