Well, i'm no expert but this is what i would do:
1. meter on the grey area to avoid the highlight being blown out. Step down the EC 1/3 or even 2/3 if necessary.
2. zoom out/step back a little so the flower on the right is not cut off. Also, the flower on the left is too close to the edge too.
3. The DOF. If i really want shallow DOF, i would focus on the center of the flower instead of its furthest petal, and then recompose alittle. Otherwise, i would increase the DOF and get more flowers in focus.
That's just MHO. :)
