I am using a 512MB SanDisk Memory card in my Canon SD 110 camera. After two years of using this camera and card, when I plug the card into a card reader hooked to my computer, there is an increasing number of folders being created. At first, there was just one folder canon 01 or something like that, then, I always delete all old pictures from the camera, using the delete all pictures option from the menu on the camera. Instructions say that any manipulation to the memory card should be done in the camera and not at the computer while the card is in the reader. All of that makes sense to me, so I have not deleted the folders while the card is in the computer. But now, as the number of folders on the card increases, up to canon 10 right now, the older folders are left empty and new one's are created by the camera to house new photos.
I don' know why the camera doesn't use the old folder which is already created, and which is empty after I have deleted all pictures.
Is anyone here familiar with how folders are created and how the SD digital cards should be maintained?
