View Full Version : Importing keywords?

I've only recently discovered Exhibit Engine, which looks like great photo gallery software. I would like to try it, but wonder if someone can answer a question that occurred to me for which I could not find an answer in the forum:

I have been using JAlbum, another fine freeware product. JAlbum, though, does not have a search function, and I found it increasingly necessary to have a better find function as my photo collection increased in size (it's now up to around 7500 photos). Therefore, I wrote my own PHP/MySQL combination to enable search in JAlbum, and keyworded all my photos, which was quite time consuming.

The question is this: Is there a way to import keywords and other photo information for photos into Exhibit Engine? I have my photos' keywords in a standalone database that could easily be made to output the photo names with their file locations and keywords in any tab or other delimited format, as well as having the MySQL database that already has the photo names, photo file locations, and keywords in it.

This question is for Pekka or anyone else who has knowledge of how to import these keywords and other information.

Thanks to all for your time, and congratulations Pekka on a very nice, full-featured program.

You will have to experiment a bit to figure out which IPTC info ends up where;
but getting your keywords attached to each photo via IPTC info should allow EE to pick them up on UPLOAD & store in the MySQL database.
