I know it's a little out of focus, but I just like this style of photography.

You say "Style of photography". What style is it? Never seen this before in the library or gallery. I like it ;)

This is a very fine image. I particularly like the way you have "revealed" the white wispy clouds in mid-frame. Can't you crank the sharpness up a little on the person without adversely affecting the sand, or the sky?
It's great, and I like the weight of the earth acting to anchor the clouds in the sky.
thanks,

Ral nice photo Henk. The clouds look just like silk.

A very nice image Henk - the composition is very appealing. The haziness at the bottom relates well with the title! :)

Great potential, in fact more-or-less perfect from the head up. Also, it is somewhat similar in idea to Shelia's dune runner, or your own 'Minarret Near Evening Sun".
I appreciate the purity of such clean, crisp, minimalist images, and in that sense they feel akin to contemporary art rather than Van Gogh.
Overall, I prefer the shot that you posted last year of camels. More mystery perhaps. More Van Gogh. Looser, less structured ?
On close, still splendid!

Well composed shot. I like that big indecisive sky a lot.
Also had a look at your Sulawesi photos. It’s funny because I have a lot of the “same” shots from my trip to Northern Sulawesi in 2001. But that was before my digital days.

Was lucky enough to pickup a D60 last year on my way over there. Everything was shot in JPEG. NEver heard of RAW in those days. Things have changed!!

Dear Henk and others
Your pictures set a very high standard, Henk.
This one is no exception.
You know, that sky with criss-cross pattern is so good and well captured,
and the sand is so rich in color, that I DON'T WANT THE FIGURE AT ALL.
The figure keeps pulling my eye from the fantastic sky down to it, and I don't want it to.
This image is powerful enough without the (rather contrived) figure.
Maybe a very small camel or camel train silhouette on the horizon bottom left
would fit in better. You have one I think.
To me, the figure is too large and the western dress doesn't fit in.
I think the figure if used at all, should be no more than a sixth of the size of this one.
The image is excellent even with no animate object.
One other small point, Henk.
I think the blue of your mount is too light and similar to the sky.
Like the figure, I feel that the blue mount is also distracting and
pulling my eye away from what I really want to admire and enjoy.
Kind regards
eland
