Just curious to know how many of you great creative minds, use it in your daily work? If so, what? Is this mainly a hobby for everyone, or are you one of the "Lucky" ones who get to incorporate your love of photography into your daily work? And I don't mean sneaking out of the office for a few photo opportunities here and there while the boss isn't looking :D

Photography has basically nothing to do with my job but sometimes I'll take photo's of finished products or company funtions and send them to our marketing dept. You never know where they'll get used.

I'd like to think that my reasons for taking photos constitute some kind of occupation. Essentially, I take pictures for three reasons:

to capture events, places, objects, and people that are important to me

to spread the joy of photography to people that I know with hopes that they might purchase a camera of their own, and experience a change in his/her life as I have.

and lastly, to get some of the... socially challenged people at my school to get out and party.

I'm told that I have an interesting mix of interests. I played 3 years of varsity basketball in high school, I'm a 6ft 10in tall black teenager (playing right into the stereotype so far), and I've been building computers and doing computer consulting since I was a freshman in high school, and have been building web pages since the 7th grade. I also know about 5-6 programming languages -- and that is how I'm connected to the nerds.

I send my classmates to my website, and they go into the party section, or even the beautiful women section ;). They see all the fun that their friend had last weekend instead of staying inside all day playing computer games. It's had a good effect on many people, many of which are my friends.

And so you see I consider it my duty to take pictures, because my photos take people somewhere they might not normally go, and in doing so, intice them to try something new!

I just hope I can get my website up and running again soon... it's hard paying those internet bills to host your own site on a college student's budget! lol. Good day to all!

Well, this is a hobby for me which I plan to turn into a digital graphic design business. I must say I do love the learning curve, just hope it doesn't last too long. LOL

Just a hobby for me at this time, but I'd like to make it more eventually.

You should Jim. Definitely have the talent. Friend is a professional in the city (NYC) Trying to get pointers and plan on putting some things in his gallery. I would like to share more here, but really need to hook up that scanner as I have a "Lot" of images from my film SLR. I'll be sending out my address to you shortly. Look foward to pic ;)

So, How about you? Do you manage to make loads of money from photos to buy loads of kit? For me, I can't wait to just take a pic worthy of entering in a competition or posting on a gallery somewhere. I don't do it for money but strive for the glory!

How about me? No money with photos yet, I'm just a painter of furniture with a little shop. I mainly photograph for my own pleasure, but one never knows does one. Have you posted any of your photographs? I'm sure they are worthy ;) If not in anyone elses mind, your own.

Yes, that would be me ;) One of my favorite subjects. Never realized it until everyone that met me said those exact words as yourself. Is it that obvious? Sorry....I'd like to see some of your photographs if you'd like to post them ;)

I'm a webmaster/researcher/floor runner for a TV and film production company, so I get to take photos of our shows in production. It's nice to be able to take pics of nice-looking people, although it's usually in less than ideal situations - you can't use flash, you can't stand in the actors eyelines, there's not a massive amount of light to play with and you have to try to keep out of everyone's way.

If I'm being a floor runner at the same time, there's the added complication of carrying six cups of tea and trying not to lose actors between scenes. ;)

I don't make any money out of stuff I shoot on set, but I have sold other photos.
