Hello All!

I just want to know how long will the CMOS sensor in our D60 last under constant (and careful) use. Does it have a "useful" life of X number of shots? Is the CMOS sensor like a car that is subject to "wear and tear" and requires preventive maintenance?

There are no published figures on the Canon CMOS sensors, as they intergrate more and more functions onto the CMOS the mean time between failure MTBF will be difficult to caluculate, it will probably be obsolete before it fails at this rate.

In general the shutter mechanism is the first to fail, although 400,000+ cycles before ware can be seen is not uncommon.

The only problem you should have is dust, which can be cleaned, there are other posts covering this topic.
